Mechatronics Innovation Lab and Dimension Four enter into a new Strategic Partnership

The Internet of Things (IoT) and the use of it is constantly breaking new records, both in terms of its scope and applications, and by the end of 2021 the world will have more than 10 billion connected IoT devices. In the meantime, companies across industries are constantly learning about how IoT can optimize and improve their processes, however,  the threshold of cost and complexity surrounding IoT is often perceived as high. With the new collaboration between Mechatronics Innovation Lab (MIL) and Dimension Four (D4) this threshold is now lowered.

MIL, as a National Center for Innovation, is working closely with the industry to increase competitiveness and market position, while reducing risks and costs associated with development and innovation. Meanwhile, D4 helps companies remove complexity by offering an end-to-end IoT platform that is easy to to get started with, and built for scale. In addition, the platform is available free of charge to companies who want to use it for prototyping and early-phase projects.

Together, MIL and D4 offer a faster path to innovation with reduced risk. More so, the D4 software is easily scalable as business and demand grow. The IoT platform will be available for testing with a selection of sensors at MIL's test center, located in Grimstad, Norway.

Both MIL and D4 see this as a great opportunity for companies that have sensory systems and data sources that can’t effectively communicate with each other, or with a central hub. By upgrading to a more agnostic approach and to an open interface, they can reduce operational costs and increase the value of their data, ultimately helping them make better business decisions. For companies new to IoT, the entrance and further adoption of the technology is also made more available.

“It is important for the industry to connect with digital partners that will make their processes more efficient, smarter, and faster. By including the Dimension Four solution in our industry 4.0 lab, we have the opportunity to expand companies' expertise in digitization and wireless communication. This will allow them to see their own potential to a much greater extent.”

- Svein-Inge Baade Ringstad, Product Manager, Mechatronics Innovation Lab

"We are very pleased to enter into a partnership with Mechatronics Innovation Lab. They have strong industrial expertise and a unique test center for innovation. We look forward to working closely with them to assist companies in developing great, scalable solutions within IoT."

- Morten Steinvåg, Chief Commercial Officer, Dimension Four
